Hi all,
Here are a few photos from today’s Next Gen games at the New Canaan library. I ran the Battle of New Orleans. We had 16 kids sign up, so Jim Stanton ran an extra science fiction based game so everyone could play.
Thanks to Derek for the use of his Dark Age fort. It fit in nicely to represent the earthworks that Jackson built outside of New Orleans. And thanks to Nigel and Frank for contributing enough redcoats to make the game happen.
I let everyone know that I created a scenario to actually make a more balanced game and give the British a chance to win. They did just that. Unlike the real battle, the British remembered to bring the scaling ladders this time and after taking horrendous casualties, were finally able to scale the earthworks and breach the defense.
Next Saturday, we will be in Westport for the Battle of Ridgefield. The Westport library is only about 2 miles from where the British landed for the raid on Danbury.
Best regards,
John
