Hi all,
Here are some photos from today’s Hastings game at New Canaan. While the game in Darien yesterday had mostly younger kids, they were a bit older today (either 8th grade or high school). I have to admit that I actually had a lot of fun today. I gave a brief history lesson, and found that everyone pretty much already knew what this game was about. The librarian was just smiling in the background.
OK, “It’s New Canaan”. 😀 Frank will get that joke.
The good news is that after a few turns, the kids didn’t even need me. Jim’s daughter Elizabeth showed up to help and became known as “casualty girl” since she kept collecting the piles of dead figures building up.
This gave me an opportunity to talk about future events with the teen librarian. She wants to expand the gaming group to adults beginning in 2024. That’s really good since while the teen program has a “nice” budget, the adult program has a “Large” budget. 😂
Basically, this library just completed a $40 million renovation. They want programming.
OK, sorry for the long email. Next stop is Stamford on Tuesday night as part of Jim’s 21st Century grant program. We are running a few events as part of a larger welcome program for parents.
Hope to see you all in a few weeks!
Thanks,
John
